Cobourg Tae Kwon Do Teaches Children Character Development and Personal Excellence Through The Study of Martial Arts
PARENTS LOVE OUR MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM FOR KIDS
CHECK OUT WHAT THIS FATHER HAD TO SAY ABOUT OUR ACADEMY
“After many years of being bulled at school I enrolled my son in Cobourg Tae Kwon Do. The schools either looked the other way or had a blind eye to what was going on. Not wanting retaliation against him, he would not speak up against the bullies. This was not simply teasing as he ended up with a broken finger and a concussion. Alan took classes and with guidance and support from everyone there his confidence level increased. All the students in his classes were more than willing to help him .The greatest part was even though Alan was a white belt just starting the more experienced students with black belts treated him as an equal. This helped him see himself in a different light. Eventually he was able to stand up to his bullies and his attitude has drastically changed. I would recommend taking taekwondo classes to anyone that wants to boost confidence and fitness as this has certainly helped my son.”
OUR INSTRUCTORS HEAR MANY STORIES SUCH AS THIS ALL THE TIME FROM PARENTS. YOU CAN EXPECT TO SEE MANY BENEFITS FROM YOUR CHILD’S MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING HERE AT COBOURG TAE KWON DO
– IMPROVED FOCUS AND ATTENTION SPAN –
The students will learn to focus on anyone who is speaking to or teaching them through focusing their eyes, body, and mind. They will learn to focus for longer periods of time therefore learning and retaining more information than they have done before. Cobourg Tae Kwon Do’s martial arts program trains the focus like you train your muscles. The more you use it the stronger it gets.
– IMPROVED CONFIDENCE –
Children who have self confidence are happy children. They no longer live with fear and anxieties. Developing confidence in the students is the first step in getting children to be successful in all areas of their lives. Once a student has improved their self confidence, our team of instructors can get them to perform like they have never thought possible before.
– SELF DISCIPLINE –
Getting children to do what they are told to do can be quite challenging from time to time. We all can agree on this. Through our martial rte training we teach children to be self disciplined and respectful of tasks asked of them as well as the ones we do not ask them to do. Our goal is to develop students who have the knowledge to know what they are suppose to do and they just do it without being asked to do it. They know what needs to be done and they get it done. This will help set them up to be successful in their life.
– PHYSICAL FITNESS AND WEIGHT LOSS –
Strength, endurance, flexibility, mobility, cardio, and weight management are all benefits that you will see in your child through training at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do. Through physical exercises, movements, martial rte techniques, and training drills are all incorporated into our martial arts curriculum. Through cardio training the student will improve their endurance and stamina and make them more athletic. These physical benefits will improve a child’s daily life and activities and will give them more energy and self confidence.
NO ONE SITS ON THE BENCH IN OUR CLASSES
Taekwondo and Martial Arts is not a team sport. The only person that a child is competing with is with themselves. Striving to improve upon themselves. Children as young as 3 years old and up come to us for various reasons. Some are in shape while others are overweight. Some come for the fitness and fun, while others come to develop confidence and discipline. Others want to learn to defend themselves against bullies. And some want to be the next Bruce Lee or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. No matter what the reason is, all the students are treated equally and with respect. Our instructors are here to help instruct, guide, and motivate the students to become the best they can be.
WE COULD GO ON AND ON AND ON ABOUT ALL THE BENEFITS OF MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING FOR KIDS BUT MAYBE IT IS BETTER THAT YOU HEAR FROM SOME OF OUR PARENTS AND YOUNGER STUDENTS
MARTIAL ARTS DEVELOPS A STRONG MIND, BODY, AND SPIRIT
“My son joined Cobourg Tae Kwon Do when he was 8 years old because he wanted to be a ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle”. He is now 13 and we are very pleased with his physical, mental and emotional development as a result of Master Jonathan and the sense of community he inspires.”
THROUGH MARTIAL ARTS WE DEVELOP TOMORROW’S LEADERS TODAY
“My parents signed me up when I was around the age of 4 and they wanted me to stay healthy and active. My favourite thing about taekwondo was that everyone was very encouraging, helpful and it I always had a great time when I went to the club! I have achieved 4 black belts, a stronger core, leadership, empathy, and courage. I think someone should join because when you first come you feel right at home, everyone is very encouraging, very helpful, and lots of fun. Cobourg taekwondo is like another family to me, and Master Jonathan Field has really been there for me.”
CONFIDENCE CHILDREN ARE MORE HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
“I started tae kwon do at the age of 3 because my mom thought it would be good for my confidence and it would be a good workout. I love doing high kicks on the black bag and I also like learning about self defense. Tae kwon do as given me lost of self esteem. In my 8th year in tae kwon do I made it to 2nd degree black belt and also had a chance to compete in a world wide championship in Florida. I think people should join because they can learn to defend themselves and others and help with their discipline and/or self esteem and confidence.”
MARTIAL ARTS IS ONE OF THE BEST THINGS YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CHILDREN DO
“My two sons began taekwondo seven years ago as timid young children. They are now teenage boys who are proud of their achievements, confident in their disposition and happy to belong to a “family” of friends who support each other. Taekwondo has tested the limits of their endurance and taught them to never say “can’t”. When they received their black belts this past Spring they each glowed with pride, and as a parent, who could ask for more?”
MARTIAL ARTS KIDS CAN LEARN TO ACCOMPLISH ANYTHING THAT THEY STRONGLY BELIEVE IN
“My youngest son Justin, took an interest in martial arts after speaking with one of his friends who was/is a student of Master Field. Justin was eager to join Cobourg Tae Kwon Do and we agreed that it would be a fun father and son experience. 2 years and 4 months later it has been an amazing learning experience for both Justin and I. The instructors and students at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do are always friendly, helpful and extremely patient as they teach you to push your own perceived mental and physical boundaries. Being a student at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do is more than just learning a well defined Martial Arts skill, it’s about always growing as an individual. In the case of my son, it’s about gaining the confidence to try new things and to face new challenges head on, which Justin now does with great zeal! For myself, It’s about staying mentally and physically healthy; however, more importantly, it’s the time my son and I share as we both continually learn. Thank you Master Field!”
1. I know my child will have fun training in martial arts, but they have quit other activities in the past. How do I keep them from quitting Martial Arts?
The key to the success of a child’s martial arts training is consistency, progress, and the parents. What we have discovered is that children do not quit their martial arts, their parents do! As long as the parents make the commitment to ensure the the child attends classes at least twice a week on a regular basis, the child will excel in their martial arts training. Students who train consistency and are making progress in the martial arts should have no problem reaching their life changing goal of becoming a Black Belt both in Martial Arts and in Life!
2. How many times a week do you recommend I attend classes?
We currently run classes 6 days a week. We could like to see our students attend at least 2-3 a week.
3. How long have these classes been in the area?
Cobourg Tae Kwon Do has been teaching martial arts to 6-12 year OLDS since the early 1990.
4. What does my child need to attend Taekwondo classes?
Our students wear a traditional Taekwondo uniform called a Dobuk and start with a white belt. The Dobuk promotes proper hygiene and school spirit and unity.
5. Who teaches the children Taekwondo classes at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do?
Our team of qualified instructors, assistant instructors, and leadership team will instruct, guide, and motivate the students.
6. What will my child be learning in Taekwondo class at Cobourg Tae Kwon Do?
Your child will learn basic physical skills such as coordination, balance, flexibility, agility, endurance, kinetic awareness, and more plus the physical martial arts skills of striking, kicking, blocking, foot work, and self defense. But more importantly your child will learn about listening, respect, self confidence, perseverance, courtesy, bully proofing, school safety, street safety, and all the other things that a good martial arts school can provide.
7. My child has no previous experience in martial arts, is this class for them?
Most of the children that start Taekwondo and Martial Arts with us have no experience in martial arts so your child will fit right in. The class is designed to take an absolute beginner and get them ready for the more advanced classes as they age and progress in skills and eventually to Black Belt.
8. What exactly is Taekwondo?
Our Taekwondo program for children is a martial arts class for 6-12 year olds that teaches the art of Taekwondo blended with physical skill development every child should have as well as life development skills and verbal and non verbal self defense.
